France is a republic in Southwest Europe. The second home nation of Rob McCallister, it is part of the plot of the first Home Alone film.
Involvement in Home Alone[]
Prior to the first film, the youngest of the McCallister brothers, Rob, was given a job transfer as part of his promotion during a summer. Knowing that this job transfer meant moving to Paris, Rob and his family: wife Georgette, twin sisters, and son Steffan, moved from New York City, New York to France and settle in a posh penthouse apartment. Their eldest child Heather and firstborn son Rod, were left in the United States to attend college and finish high school, respectively.
Rob later invited the McCallister family to spend Christmas there and paid for their trip. However, Kevin McCallister is mistakenly left home alone and has to face two burglars, creating the film's basic plot.
